Commune is brought to you by old friends and music collaborators Zopi Kristjanson and Chris Devoe, who wanted a space for people to connect around recorded music in an elevated experience.
They set up a pair of classic Klipsch AK6s hooked up to a JJ322 tube amp in a room designed for sound. Shimby McCreery, who had a hand in the redesign of the Sydney Opera House, oversaw the layout and acoustic treatments, while Gavin Bernard and Sarah Oldaker helped with the interior design.
Award winning sommelier Steve Grubbs runs the wine program, focusing on boutique producers in a fun, approachable way. Commune serves globally inspired food made with hyperlocal ingredients by Zachariah Kane and Muhammad Elosta, along with freshly baked bread by Miranda Vick.
DJs, music artists and other selectors play a program of recorded music most nights, with a live jazz trio the first Wednesday of every month. Our hours are:
